Dr David von Brandt is a Clinical Psychologist with substantial experience of working in NHS Forensic inpatient units and general adult mental health settings. He is an experienced therapist and is currently seeking advanced accreditation in Schema Therapy. He is also MBT and DBT trained. He has designed, led and supervised Schema Therapy Groups, forensic Anger Management and Violence Reduction Groups, Sex Offender Treatment Programs, and psychoeducational and symptom-specific CBT groups.
Dr von Brandt has considerable experience of providing medico-legal reports to court. He regularly accepts instructions for psychological assessments in criminal and civil/family proceedings, completing approximately 25-35 assessments annually. He has appeared in crown courts, family proceedings courts, and parole board hearings as an expert witness.
Dr von Brandt has extensive experience in teaching and training. He regularly provides teaching to the University of East London, Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme, and leads risk assessment training in his NHS setting. In particular, he routinely provides teaching on structured professional judgement risk assessment tools, and has devised and delivered HCR-20 training to more than 500 individuals to date. He has also provided training on therapeutic approaches such as DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, and Schema Therapy, and has lectured on Psychopathy, and Personality Disorder, Anger Management, Therapeutic Boundaries, working therapeutically with Paranoia and Delusions and Anger Management.
